Amazon is continuing to develop its Lumberyard game engine and has set up an office in Austin, Texas focused on doing just that. For developers, this additional push for man-power means Lumberyard is still at the forefront of Amazon’s mind and could mean promising things with continued support for the free game engine and the potential for new features down the line.
Furthermore, a new Lumberyard team in Texas means new jobs for game developers that are interested in software development, quality assurance, or project management. Amazon listed ten positions on its jobs site for the new team.
Amazon has continued to offer support and new features for the Lumberyard engine since releasing the free development tool earlier this year.
Already, the company has released multiple beta versions of the engine and introduced new features that focus on making high-quality game development tools freely available to developers, including VR support and simple Twitch integration.
